J5 EV Becomes Indonesia’s No.1 Best-Selling EV for Daily Mobility
As JAECOO’s fully electric SUV in Indonesia, the J5 EV has become the country’s No.1 best-selling EV from January to April 2026. The achievement was supported by retail sales of 10,587 units and wholesale sales of 11,006 units during the first four months of the year, reflecting strong consumer acceptance of JAECOO’s NEV technology.
Beyond offering an efficient daily driving solution, the J5 EV delivers highly economical operating costs. Based on an electricity tariff of IDR 1,700 per kWh, the vehicle’s operating cost is estimated at approximately IDR 290,000 per month, or just IDR 9,600 per day, less than the price of a cup of coffee.
The J5 EV also offers a driving range of up to 461 kilometers on a full charge, enabling long-distance journeys such as Jakarta to Semarang without requiring a recharge en route. Its SUV character is reinforced by a 200 mm ground clearance, providing confidence across a variety of road conditions, from urban streets and steep inclines to light gravel roads.
SHS Technology in the J7 SHS-P and J8 SHS-P ARDIS Delivers Greater Efficiency and Extended Range
For consumers seeking greater flexibility for both daily commutes and long-distance travel, JAECOO offers its Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology through the J7 SHS-P and J8 SHS-P ARDIS.
SHS combines the efficiency and smooth driving experience of an electric vehicle with the performance and long-distance capability of a gasoline-powered vehicle, while maintaining the comfort and SUV versatility needed for various driving conditions.
The J7 SHS-P offers a combined driving range of up to 1,377 kilometers with a fully charged battery and full fuel tank, including an electric-only range of up to 115 kilometers and fuel efficiency of approximately 35 km/liter. This flexibility allows drivers to enjoy efficient daily mobility while eliminating concerns about charging infrastructure or fuel availability during longer trips.
Based on a usage simulation that combines EV mode during weekdays and gasoline operation on weekends, the J7 SHS-P delivers competitive annual operating costs of approximately IDR 5.8 million, equivalent to IDR 113,400 per week or around IDR 16,200 per day. The calculation is based on a RON 92 fuel price of IDR 12,300 per liter and an electricity tariff of IDR 1,699 per kWh.
The model is further enhanced by a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), providing smooth and responsive power delivery. Intelligent driving features, including a 540-degree camera system and transparent chassis technology, improve visibility and driver confidence when navigating narrow roads, steep inclines, or varying terrain.
Meanwhile, the J8 SHS-P ARDIS has earned a prestigious Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record as the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) with the longest driving range in Indonesia after successfully covering 1,660 kilometers on a single full battery charge and fuel tank.
With an electric-only driving range of up to 180 kilometers, the J8 SHS-P ARDIS also delivers competitive operating costs of approximately IDR 7 million per year, equivalent to around IDR 600,000 per month or IDR 20,000 per day based on daily usage simulations. The calculation assumes a RON 92 fuel price of IDR 12,300 per liter and an electricity tariff of IDR 1,699 per kWh.
As a premium hybrid SUV, the J8 SHS-P ARDIS is equipped with ARDIS all-wheel-drive technology, which distributes torque in real time to enhance stability and traction across various road and driving conditions. The system is complemented by nine intelligent driving modes, delivering a more adaptive and comfortable driving experience whether navigating city streets, climbing steep inclines, or traversing light off-road terrain.
